After a sub 5 hour effort at Pelotonia on Saturday I got up early and traveled to beautiful Portland Indiana for Race#7. Another very well organized event. It was an out and back relatively flat 20 mile TT.
It took me about 5 miles to get my legs into a good rhythm. I hit the turn around in 23:10 and really started to work hard on the return trip. There were some crosswinds and a little headwind over the last 2 miles. The roads over the middle part of the course were a little bumpy. My pants yabbies were quite happy when I came out of the saddle to make the final right turn for the 2 mile stretch into the finish.
I hit the line in 45:48 (26.2 mph avg) and was pleased that I was able to ride the last half about 30 seconds faster. Took the second place podium for the Cat 4 race and had the 7th fastest time overall.
That put the finishing touches on my final hard week of training for The LOTOJA Classic. Time to begin my recovery and tapering phase.
